Babelfish -

a system of automatic translation of text or web pages available on the Internet through a search engine Alta vista (now owned by Yahoo). The name comes from fish living in th e ear and explaining foreign languages, with a fantastic series The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Douglas Adams. Babel word appearing in the title is a reference to the Babelfish described in the Bible, the Tower of Babel. According to biblical accounts, God confused the languages of the tower builder, to prevent its completion.
